Another great Yurt review

“ Liked: Absolutely gorgeous Yurt, really quiet and private. First time we’ve ever been glamping and we are converts. The Yurt is beautifully decorated and the fairy lights quite magical. They’ve though of every item you might need – really well equipped. Just take clothes, games and food (and perhaps some citronella candles for the evening). Tim was super helpful, on hand if you needed anything and took our bags down in the trailer so we just wandered down the steps through the trees. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you Tim.

Disliked: Nothing at all ”

Will be picking up an anti midge candle or two tomorrow ready for the next glamper!

And another, from early spring!

We chose to stay at Gurt Yurt as an alternative to a hotel whilst picking up our son for Easter . We are city folk, but the trip definitely turned out to be a positive adventure.

You begin your adventure by walking down a scenic forest path to the Yurt which has its own veranda, outside washing up sink, compo-stable toilet, shower and fire pit. The Yurt was really beautiful inside with a double bed and two single beds made up for our older teenagers. It was well equipped with tea towels, cutlery, dishes, cups and glasses pots and pans, kettle, toaster and hob. For warmth (as we stayed in early April), we had a wood-burner, a radiator, hot water bottles, electric blankets and extra blankets.

Everything had been thought of for our comfort. It was a nice touch having some champagne in an ice bucket outside and so too, was the tea and coffee already provided. Tim was a lovely host, who took our luggage down to the Yrut on a small trailer and tractor. You can also order food baskets in advance which was very handy.

More importantly, we all had some fresh air, we got up early and had 2 lovely family breakfasts, we played football outside, roasted marshmallows and sat around the fire pit at night and looked at the stars and had some good heated debates! The highlight for me was walking out on the veranda seeing a deer early in the morning which came quite close to the yrut.

Wrap up warm if the forecast is a bit chilly, but we coped with that with the time that we chose to stay. Everything is sustainable and local – from the handmade soaps to the locally produced apple juice. There is a hammock in the grounds and a tyre to swing on and lots of space for younger members. My daughter also got visited by a few of the chickens, on the veranda whilst she was studying in the Yrut, which I think she quite enjoyed.

There are 2 local pubs up the road, which we did not have time to try because we decided to go and see the beautiful city of Wells. On the whole, we had a really enjoyable trip, it was our first camping experience and we were well looked after by Tim and Sara.

Another Gurt Yurt review

Lovely review of last weekend in Gurt Yurt. Midweek(Mon to Fri) booking from £200 for 2 nights throughout July.

” Amazing stay, yurt was incredibly comfortable and very well supplied! Hosts were amazing, kindly carried our luggage in a trailer back and forth from the yurt to where we were parked, and each morning they checked that we were okay and had everything we needed – we felt very looked after, but without being too invasive – they left us to our own devices and we certainly had our privacy, they have struck the balance very well. We ran out of wood, but Tim kindly brought us down plenty more to keep us going.

Outside BBQ grill was fantastic and very easy to use, along with keeping us very warm when the sun went down. Well connected to various walks which were also fantastic – absolutely brilliant location, and just a few minutes walk from the Crown Inn pub which offers amazing food and drinks which was perfect after a long hike!

All in all, this was one of the most relaxing stays I have ever experienced, there wasn’t a single downside to report, 10/10 – would absolutely recommend to anyone, you don’t want to miss out!”

September bookings!

We still have a weekend available in our Gurt Yurt at the end of the month(24-26/7) at our low season prices, along with mid week availability in the Yurt and on the campsite. The Yurt’s double bed comes with an electric blanket so you won’t get cold in the night!

You can still book now for half term and Halloween weekend! Lie in bed, listen to the owls and watch the bats fly overhead. Apple dunking all that week!

Book now or read about what you could be doing next weekend!

We have a two day booking to fill for our yurt for Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday. Weather is looking good through to the 6th. This is what you could be missing.

“ Liked: This place is an absolute gem! We stayed in the yurt for two nights and from the moment we arrived Tim made us feel so welcome and gave the whole place a lovely happy and calm atmosphere. The yurt is hidden away from the rest of the site and to get to it we had to go down some steps through the woods which all added to the sense of adventure. The yurt is beautifully set out and we were surprised to find that we had practically a whole field to ourselves too! Complete with friendly chickens and old school tyre and rope swings. A huge hit with my family! Tim gave us a brief tour of the yurt and all the useful bits and pieces, including the eco loo, which I have to say I was not exactly looking forward to but it was actually really good! Very clean and it gave my kids another opportunity to talk about poo but whilst becoming a bit more eco aware! The shower was lovely and hot which was a bonus. On arrival Tim had put a bottle of the local Thatchers sparkling cider reserve on ice (absolutely delicious – we bought more at the Thatchers shop nearby. Tim should get commission!!!) along with some apple juice and huge marshmallows on the side ready to be used in the fire pit he’d kindly set up. By that point we were ready to move in permanently! Our evenings were filled with drinks under the stars on the veranda, listening to the owls and enjoying the fresh air. There’s lots of lovely things to do nearby however we had to drag our kids there as they were so content being wild and free in the yurt’s field! However, I can recommend cycling the Strawberry Line to Cheddar, The Swan Inn, and The Railway Inn. We all want to return to the yurt next year!

Disliked: Having to leave! Even my five year old daughter said “Well those days went too quick! We were having so much fun!” ”

“Absolutely fantastic stay in the yurt, the hosts are very helpful, even taking your luggage down to the accomodation on a mini tractor. Beautiful path through the woods to get there overlooking some wonderful views. accomodation itself is excellent with everything you need provided. highly recommended the BBQ package offered as cooking on an open fire made for a great afternoon! very good location being so secluded but never far from most of the things to do nearby. 5 star review from us and would recommend!” Couple from Cheltenham, July 2021
