Batch Camping and Glamping

So the bad news is we have stopped having campfires, BBQ’s or any open fire. You can still have gas or other stoves, but after watching the mountains in S Wales burn last weekend we need to stop.

The good news is our new toilets and showers are generally working brilliantly and we have a new Batch of Rescue Hens!

Unusually the Yurt is free for a week or any shorter period from 14/August to 21 August for anyone who needs to relax and have natural fun. Give us a ring and make us an offer. Everything else is booked up pretty much.

We have also discovered this week that we have Wasp Spiders(not to be confused with the many types of Spider Wasps along with the odd Hummingbird Hawk Moth and Glow Worms making a pleasant return

New Review from Pitch Up Website.

From the first day spent here, I knew that I will be returning to this campsite in the future. The host, Tim, is so friendly, accomodating, and eager to share about the wildlife and history of the surrounding area! He also made sure every visitor had what they needed and were settled, quick to hunt down any small tool that may be needed. The facilities were always clean and well stocked, and the showers were hot with a pleasant water pressure. The kitchen area provides a place to wash up, drinking water, refridgeration, a freezer, and maps for the local area.

The site itself is idyllic; I was greeted with a gorgeous wildflower bank absolutely buzzing with bees and butterflies skipping all over the place. I also saw buzzards and kestrels flying overhead during my stay, and a Roe deer with her fawn one early morning in the orchard – my favourite spot to hide from the peak of the heat! The campfield is bordered with woodland, offering privacy, but also opens up over the valley, perfect for watching the sunset and stargazing. The chickens in the orchard are curious and friendly, I very much enjoyed popping down to see them, and appreciated their fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning.

For walkers, there are many footpaths and public bridleways straight off the path from the Batch, surrounded by a delightful mix of farm and woodland that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Dolebury warren is also about a 20 minute walk away, and is a gorgeous nature reserve with stunning views over Somerset!

I felt so welcomed and at peace during my time here and cannot wait to visit again and explore the area even further!
